Fireplace Construction - (Padstow, Cornwall)

08/03/2019

Recently we were tasked with turning an old disused church near Padstow, Cornwall, into a liveable home. As part of the project, we were asked to create a fireplace that would be in keeping with the style of the property. Wanting to mirror/keep the symmetry of the windows and incorporate it into the design of the fireplace, we created plywood templates from which the fireplace could then be constructed using thermalite block. We also created some alcoves for storing wood and creating shelves, that also reflected the arched windows of the building. Once the fireplace was built, it was then rendered and painted.

We (and the customers) were extremely pleased with the result, the fireplace is sitting as the central piece of the living room. This project is a good example of how we respect the history and atmosphere of an old building, and integrate your ideas with our expert construction skills. No construction project is too big or too small.
